Be The Sunshine During Dark Days

Haitian Community Outreach

When Brandon M. Phillips witnessed Haitian families stranded at the border—facing unimaginable hardship with no resources—he knew he had to act. What began as an emergency response is now an ongoing mission of food, supplies, medical assistance, dignity, and hope.

The Story

How It Started

From one emergency trip to the border to an ongoing mission across three countries.

2021

Crisis at the Border

Thousands of Haitian migrants found themselves stranded at the U.S.-Mexico border in Tijuana. Families with young children were sleeping in the streets, without food, water, or basic necessities—and the world seemed to have forgotten them.

The Response

The First Trip

Brandon M. Phillips couldn’t look away. He organized an emergency trip to the border, bringing supplies, food, and a team of volunteers—immediate relief for hundreds of families in desperate need.

Since Then

An Ongoing Mission

What began as an emergency response grew into an ongoing mission: emergency supplies, food, and medical assistance for Haitian communities wherever they face crisis.

Today

Here at Home

Many families have resettled in Baltimore. We help them rebuild—food assistance, support navigating immigration processes, and connections to local resources.

“When you see a mother trying to comfort her hungry child with nothing to give, you can't unsee it. We had to do something. We had to be the sunshine during their darkest days.”

— Brandon M. Phillips, Founder
